Parallel
aan de tentoonstelling is een serie lezingen georganiseerd. Deze zal een
interdisciplinaire context geven waarbinnen het centrale thema verder verkend
en geproblematiseerd kan worden. Specialisten in verschillende gebieden zullen
metamorfose als concept en motief onderzoeken, in een verscheidenheid aan
perspectieven. De tentoonstelling is opgevat als een dialoog tussen hedendaagse
en oude kunst. Het historische gewicht van het onderwerp nodigt uit om binnen
het lezingenprogramma een vergelijkbare combinatie te maken, een die
specialisten omvat in zowel oude en hedendaagse kunst, media en cultuur.
Onderwerpen zijn onder meer voorstellingen van de metamorfose in beeld en
tekst, het aspect van tijd bij metamorfose en concepten van tijdsduur binnen het
Griekse denken, metamorfose als film, transformatiemodellen in de
performancekunst en het ingewikkelde tijdsaspect van het vluchtige en het
beeld. De lezingenreeks is bedoeld voor zowel een academisch als een
niet-academisch publiek en voor iedereen die geinteresseerd is in zowel
hedendaagse als oude kunst.
A series
of lectures organised as a parallel event to the exhibition will provide an
interdisciplinary context to further explore and question its central theme.
Specialists from different fields will examine metamorphosis as a concept and a
motif from a variety of perspectives. The exhibition is conceived as a dialogue
between contemporary and ancient art, and the historical significance of the
topic invites a similar combination within the lecture programme, involving
experts on ancient and contemporary art, media and culture. Topics to be
discussed include representations of metamorphosis in images and texts, the
temporality of metamorphosis and concepts of duration in ancient Greek
thinking, metamorphosis as film, models of transformation in performance art,
as well as the intricate temporality of the ephemeral and the image. The
lecture series is intended for both academic and non-academic audiences, as
well as those interested in contemporary and ancient art.
